Todd Brugman had a solo show, “Geometric Emotionalism’, of 10 new oil paintings, at Evie Studio Salon. Opening reception was September 9, 2019 and the show ran until August 25.
In the spring of 2019, Todd Brugman participated in 2 open studios. As Todd’s studio is located in West Newton, MA at ‘Shepherd & Maudsleigh Studio,” he participated in Newton Open Studios on April 6 & 7.
Todd also has a second studio in his house in Somerville, MA so he also participated in Somerville Open Studios on May 4 & 5. (Somerville Open Studios, 2019 pictured above)
Todd states that Open Studios are always his favorite way to exhibit his work, it is, for him, comparable to exhibiting in the fanciest gallery. This is because Todd enjoys getting to show his work and interact with his community. “Most (members of his community) never go to any art show, gallery or museum, therefore, when they show up at mine, asking questions, interacting and enjoying my work, I am so excited to share it with them. It is humbling and flattering.”
‘Todd Brugman: Painting the Ineffable’, was published in Boston’s Contemporary Art Magazine “Big Red & Shiny’ in January of 2019. Brugman states that much of the work featured in the publication had not previously been shown . He also stated, “I was very candid, possibly too candid… I spoke of a troubled past which may make some people feel uncomfortable;…. I do hope people can read through that and get to the substance of the article as I am happy with it. I believe the writer did an excellent job.”
